Get Into Energy / Get Into STEM is managed by the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), a non-profit consortium of electric, natural gas, and nuclear utilities and their associations. CEWD’s goal with Get Into Energy / Get Into STEM is to build awareness among students, parents, teachers, guidance counselors, and others about the excellent career opportunities available in the energy industry.
Get Into Energy / Get Into STEM was launched in 2015 as an initiative to sponsor and support FIRST® Robotics competitions and the FIRST® Tech Challenge. FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a national organization that designs innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology, and engineering.
This initiative has continued to evolve beyond competitions into a more comprehensive program designed to help middle and high school students develop a broader awareness and understanding of the indispensable role that STEM skills play in today’s and tomorrow’s workplace.
To that end, this Get Into Energy / Get Into STEM website offers students engaging and up-to-date information on a wide range of STEM topics. Equally important, a key goal is to clearly demonstrate the STEM connection to all careers in the energy industry.
